Clackamas Opens 2025-2026 Season at Eastern Oregon University
Clackamas kicked off the 2025-2026 wrestling season this past weekend at Eastern Oregon University, competing in the Mountaineer Duals on Saturday and the Mountaineer Open on Sunday.
“We love it this time of year. All the material and work we’ve put in over the last two months during preseason — you finally get to see the men execute it with our singlet on,” said Head Coach Brett Sanchez.
On Saturday, the Cougars wrestled three NAIA programs: #14 Providence University, Westcliff University, and #21 Eastern Oregon University. Clackamas went 2-1 on the day, defeating Westcliff and Eastern Oregon, while falling in a close dual to Providence.
Dual Results:
Clackamas 17 – Providence 24
Clackamas 43 – Westcliff 7
Clackamas 31 – Eastern Oregon 18

“I always enjoy starting the season with duals for many reasons, and we were getting better each match on Saturday. Credit to Providence for showing up and winning some key matchups that gave them the edge,” said Sanchez.

“I really liked what I was seeing out there. The guys responded well to tough situations in every match, and as I said earlier, everyone kept improving with their timing, rhythm, and wrestling IQ. Congrats to our champions — freshman Kelby Bernard, freshman Mark Marin, and sophomore Henry Dillingham, who has now won the Mountaineer Open back-to-back years,” Sanchez added.
The Cougars return to action this weekend, hosting their first home dual of the season against Southwestern Oregon Community College on Saturday, November 8, followed by the Mike Clock Open on Sunday, November 9.
