Wrestling Wins National Dual Meet Championship
Miami, Oklahoma- The Clackamas Community College Wrestling won the 2022 NJCAA National Dual Meet Championship this past weekend hosted by Northeast Oklahoma A & M. The #3 team in the country put on a dominant display against the top teams in the country, en route to the final, the team compiled a team record of 4-0 and the Cougars won 35 of the 40 contested bouts with 14 wins by fall! "The guys were super focused leading up to the event coming off the break and wrestled really well this weekend. We had some guys really step up and some others get themselves back on track. It was a fun weekend of bonding and competing together", said coach Josh Rhoden.
This marks the 8th total National Duals title since 2011 with the Cougars winning 7 of the last 9 finishing 2nd in 2019 and the event not being contested in 2021 due to the pandemic. The Cougars are on a solid footing headed toward the post-season this year and hope to tie the NJCAA record for most consecutive team National Championships by earning a 4th consecutive this post-season.
