Clackamas takes down SW Oregon to open the season
The Clackamas Community College wrestling team opened the season with a decisive 35-6 dual meet victory to kick off the 2021-22 college wrestling campaign winning 8 of the 10 contested bouts. The Cougars began the year as the preseason #1 in the NJCAA Coaches association poll and looked very strong in the early season contest. Led by sophomore Marckis Branford's technical fall and two pins by Michael Gasper and Kyle Richards the team outpaced a gamey Laker squad.
"We looked solid this week and cleaned some things up from the wrestle offs. These guys have high expectations and will only continue to improve. I was excited to see several guys get their first start in a Clackamas singlet and it was fun to be in front of a rowdy home crowd," said coach Josh Rhoden.
NEXT UP: The team travels to Forest Grove, Oregon next week to the Mike Clock Open where all of the guys will see there first action of the year including red shirts!
