CCC Wrestling earns their 3rd consecutive NJCAA National Championship
Council Bluffs, Iowa - This past week the Clackamas Wrestling team earned their 3rd consecutive NJCAA National Championship, 5th in program history, by outpacing 2nd place Western Wyoming by just 5.5 points. "In a year that was anything but common our team did something that was uncommon. They fought threw adversity, they worked hard and remained focused all year with much of this year in doubt. Our coaching staff is supremely proud of these young men, said 15th year head coach Josh Rhoden.
The team race was a very exciting one to follow with the Championship in doubt until the finals of the event where 133 lb Zeth Brower earned a fall propelling Clackamas ahead of Western Wyoming for the time being. Western did have an athlete in the final who, if he won, would have given the Mustangs the edge. In the end though the Championship remained in Oregon City with the Cougars!
The win secured the Cougars 3rd national championship in a row, the programs 5th overall and 4 of those won during coach Rhoden's tenure. The 3 peat makes them one of only 4 other teams in the history of the NJCAA to achieve the feat!
