Council Bluffs, IA - Clackamas won its second consecutive NJCAA wrestling title Saturday in Council Bluffs.
The Cougars sent a championship-high three wrestlers into the finals round. Jason Shaner took first place at 133, holding on to top Iowa Western's Ladamien Sturdivant in a 5-3 decision.
Another pair of Cougars finished as national runner-up; Martin Margolis III was taken down by Pratt's Jake Beeson at 149 while teammate Joel Romero fell in the final seconds of the 157 title bout to eventual athlete voted Most Outstanding Wrestler, Munkhtulga Zuunbayan from Harper.
The 2020 trophy marks the fourth time in program history that Clackamas has been national champions. In addition to 2019's title, the Cougars also won in 1971 as well as 2011. The three most recent titles have all come under the tutelage of head coach Josh Rhoden.
The 2019-2020 squad tallied 7 total All-Americans, and 3 National Finalists.
