Cougars Look to Improve on Last Season's Team Performance
WOMEN
The throws squad will be led by the return of Alyssa Aune who is on the Clackamas top ten all-time list in the hammer with the strong support of Tia Allen and Lyndsay Persaud in the shot put, discus and hammer. The women’s javelin will be strong with the contingency of Zowie Nunes, Isabel Berning, Hannah Peterson, Avery Barnhart, and Isabelle Wellhouser battling it out.
The sprints/jumps will be led by Kaylie Blodgett in the sprints and long jump with strong support from Alyse Williams, Pepper Smith and Eva Espelien in the relays and long jump, triple jump and high jump. Rylee Lemen will be filling many roles due to her strengths in the heptathlon events.
The distances will be led by Gabrielle Salvione after her NWAC All-American performance in cross country with strong support from Ayla Becker after her top 20 performance at the NWAC Cross Country Championship. Eloise Pedersen looks to have a promising season and will be well supported by Maisie Fordice, Mitzi Gonzalez, Evie McCarty, and Karsyn Nanson.
MEN
The men’s team has a strong contingency of throwers with the return of NWAC Champion shot putter Ethan Aman who can also score well in the discus and hammer with the support of Jake Rams in the shot put as well. Hadyn Fleming and Steven Ward have returned and will be supported by multi-throws event teammates with Lander Marak, Robert Akers, Sergio Bravo and Cameron Lagrow. The javelin throwers have a talented group with the return or Dax Sizemore and additions Tyler Hawkins, Gavin Russell and Kyan Paxton.
The sprints/jumps crew will help add to the depth of the program led by Brayden Nee and the return of Chaz Rockett and Luis Valdovinos. River Delco and Owen Conway will be important supporting roles in the open events and relays. Kaiden Rietkirk and Cody Buehrer will contend in the hurdles events with Kaiden also competing in the decathlon. Izrahiah Flechtner returns to be a contender in the triple jump with the addition of Ethan Stewart in the long, triple and high jumps. Quentin Currier will help add depth to the horizontal jumps and Adrian Cseh will represent for the pole vaulters.
The distance squad will maintain the momentum from the cross country season Corbin Allen, Evan Brown and Grayson Cook leading the pack. Jacob Olmos Lopez and Auggie Gingerich will help add depth in the distance events.
